Scientific Name: Jasminum angustifolium
Tamil Name: Mullai, Kattu Malli
Description: Wild Jasmine is a small climbing shrub. Stem is smooth. Oppositely arranged, simple leaves are very variable even on the same plant. Leaves are 1-3 cm long, 7-20 mm broad and elliptic. Flowers are star like one inch across and are star like and are fragrant. Each flower has 7 or 8 petals. The Flowering and fruiting happens in une to August.
Note: One of the five-land classifications in Sangam Tamil literature is rounded after this Jasmine- ‘Mullai. There is a myth that this fragrant flower attracts snakes which s not true.
